Concept design

I enjoy translating complex messages into instant comprehensive meanings by using visual puns and metaphors.

I do my research before starting any conceptual project. That means reading thick tomes of paper if need be, to capture that essence, almost like creating a perfume. A visual one, if such thing exists. Finding a hidden treasure in a deep forest of words. That is what conceptual thinking means to me, my absolute favourite step in the whole design process. I apply the same essence extracting thinking pattern to logo design.

1 icon, 3 meanings

The mission was to create a specific icon for each of the three services offered by the company. I was happy to discover that a single image rotated could take shape of each service, such as: a funnel for Communication, a monitor or speakers for Technology, and a lab bottle for Science. I have also wrote the slogan, to sum up the activity of the company in a nutshell: "Science delivered. Worldwide." Three questions arise, each containing three letters: "How, who, why?" The answers contain the services provided by the company. Mission accomplished.

Rx+ for Pharma

a triple pun!

The concept as I developed it, is a visual pun, based on the company’s own graphical signs: x+* that match the Rx sign, which means prescription in the pharmacy world. Again, a beautiful coincidence to work on. The scope of the project was to appeal to pharmacists to trust the company’s drugs and not to replace them with generics.

Computer Folder

This concept uses the icon used to represent a computer folder on a desktop. The icon is literally being brought to life by becoming a printed version of itself. The project itself is about gathering informations online into folders,
where doctors can discuss solutions and treatments for their patients, in a strictly confidential mode.

Visual analogy

INVITATION

This concept uses an illustrative analogy to represent the pitfalls in the management of ovarian cancer, by using the egg as representative for the ovary, but also for the damaged ovarian cells. The purpose of the meeting to fix these pitfalls is represented by the band aid.

Janus enzymes

CONFERENCE IN LISBON

The beauty of this project consists in the fact that the enzyme discussed at this meeting takes its name after Janus, the two-faced Roman god of beginnings, endings and duality, due to its almost symmetrical shape which fits Janus's ancient representation. I discovered this important detail after doing my research about the enzyme. It was a lightbulb moment for me. Of course, the design designed itself after that beautiful discovery.

Chess metaphor

AD FOR THE BEST MBC DRUG

After reading the scientific materials, I found a great connection between “the gold standard” – exactly what the project is about: bring the medicine in the first line of treatment, which is called “the gold standard” – and the coating of the drug which is also golden. The drug itself is a fighter, so I represented all its qualities in an army of fighters, as a chess set. The main vectors on which this concept is based are: bring the drug in the first line of treatment, valuable heart protection, and the golden coating technology which makes the chemo less damaging to the healthy cells.
